Alcove Shower Design

This frameless shower enclosure fits perfectly within a 1600mm × 1000mm alcove, with the glass screen measuring approximately 1200mm × 2300mm. The installation features two side panels with a central door, all crafted from 10mm ultra clear glass.

Rather than the standard centre positioning, this bespoke shower enclosure was installed flush with the front face of the recess, creating a more open feel to the bathroom. The minimalist design uses subtle 15×20mm U-channels in antique copper to secure the glass.

Shower Integration in Recess

Viewed from the right side, this shower enclosure in a recess shows how the frameless glass harmonizes with the natural stone tiling and the freestanding bath. The shower's full-height design maximizes the sense of space while preserving the clean lines of the bathroom.

The antique copper fixtures perfectly complement the deeper copper tone of the shower controls and dual shower heads inside. This careful matching of finishes creates a cohesive look throughout the shower enclosure, connecting it visually with the room's other features.

Versatile Door Design

The front view shows the door partially opened outwards, revealing our nearly invisible 7mm shower seals along the edge. The door's placement was carefully calculated to ensure that when opened 90 degrees, it won't contact the adjacent bath.

All our hinged doors include a self-centring mechanism within the hinge, allowing for smooth operation while preventing over-extension. This particular inline shower door can swing both inwards and outwards, offering flexibility based on the user's preference.

Spacious Interior

With the door fully opened outwards, the alcove shower's generous interior is revealed. The space features dual shower heads, transforming this enclosure into a luxury double shower. The natural stone tiles continue from the bathroom floor into the shower area, creating a seamless transition.

While maintaining a full-height design, we left a small 20mm gap above the door for ventilation. Combined with the bathroom's high-performance extractor fan, this ensures proper air circulation without compromising the clean, frameless appearance of this inline shower enclosure.

Bi-Directional Door Operation

Here, the same view shows the door opened inwards – a practical feature after showering to prevent water dripping onto the bathroom floor. The dual-swing capability offers convenience while also addressing safety concerns.

For safety reasons, we always recommend outward-opening doors to prevent anyone potentially becoming trapped inside a shower. However, the inward-opening option adds versatility for everyday use in this alcove shower installation, giving users the best of both worlds.

Elegant Hardware Details

The partially opened door highlights the elegant antique copper hardware, including the traditional style door knob. These warm-toned fixtures stand out beautifully against the ultra clear glass and white wall panelling on the bathroom side.

The frameless design emphasizes the quality of the glass and craftsmanship, with the minimal 15×20mm U-channels providing secure support while remaining visually unobtrusive. This approach is signature to our alcove shower enclosures, allowing the materials to speak for themselves.

Adaptable Design Approach

This final image shows the same alcove shower enclosure design installed in another part of the project, but with the bath positioned on the left instead of the right. This demonstrates the flexibility of our inline shower designs to adapt to different bathroom layouts.

Whether called an alcove shower, shower in a recess, or inline shower enclosure, this installation type remains one of the most popular and practical options for bathrooms. Our frameless glass approach maximizes space and light while creating a stunning focal point in any bathroom.
